Apparently, the effort of a hero-wannabe did not materialize, for the reason being “insufficient in substance.” Perhaps because there wasn’t really enough sincerity and honesty in it, maybe it was more out of a personal interest or personal vendetta. Because of this, the impeachment attempt on Arroyo once again failed.
So what’s next? Well for one, this does not necessarily mean that the administration can now go for charter change. Please do away with the hypocrisy that this does not intend to extend the term of the incumbent. Don’t make fools of the masses! And please! Please, stop tagging God’s name in this selfish motive.
Here’s my two-cents worth: Personally, I am not for impeachment, but definitely I am not for cha-cha. Let the president do her job, and these legislators should instead focus on more relevant matters that can help the masses, just like they were elected to do. All these attempts, which were borne out of personal motives, are costing the country lots of money - the people’s money!
But then, watch out for that sly one’s document that is filed along with those tower of papers that are building up on these legislator’s offices because of their too much attention on matters that would give them ‘personal gains.’ One of those papers might inadvertently extend the incumbent’s term. We all know, and have seen, how these lawmakers can make ‘honest mistakes.”
It’s less than 2 years, 2010 presidential election will be here, sooner than we think. While some friends, like Snow and Reynz may have different opinions on the subject, I would like all of these to end the way it should be, completing the president’s term and we choose another one through election. Changing leaders through mass actions somehow has lost its meaning, perhaps maybe because it was abused.
And yes, of course I agree - NO TO CHARTER-CHANGE!
No tricks this time, please.

I say, too late the hero.
I certainly agree with you…1M times no to charter change…duh? the masses doesn’t even know the meaning of that freaking charter change.
no matter how frequently we change our constitution(s), as long as we have those self-serving personalities… nothing will happen…
My answer - election. And I would bet my blog that the next President will hear tons of complains again. The same old cycle that we enjoy watching…lol!
How about helping each other instead relying our future on a single person?
We are looking for hero, but we do not realize that there is a hero inside our hearts.
you are right Angel, after election, who ever will be elected will also be met with protests. That is why we never move forward.
lots of people actually has the initiative to start something happening (NGO’s, cooperatives, cause-oriented groups, etc.), however, they are often discouraged when things already needed to be legalized (government papers, licenses and all).
I beg to disagree with NO TO CHARTER CHANGE. Can you imagine choosing a president or a fixed term of 6 years? If we have elected and crook and corrupt president, we have to wait for another 6 years before replacing him/her unless we have tanks and armored vehicles plus the support of millions to storm MALACANANG to flush out the crooks. Enough for the presidential system. We have been using and used by it for many decades, still, where are we now compared to our neighbors??? We are on the same boat when it comes to hatred for the present leaders of our country, I simply can not tolerate anymore with the rotten system that is making us poorer each day and the rich richer and more powerful everyday.

Erratum: With regards to my previous comment, it should have been…”for a fixed term” and not or a fixed term. I should have written “a crook” and not and crook.
My apologies for not proof-reading my statements before submitting it.

hello D3Marketers. That is why we choose wisely during election time. Besides, the proposed charter change has nothing to do with shortening the term of an incumbent, but rather lengthening it even.
however, your views are most welcome here. we would love to hear from all side.
Impeachment moves are futile and actually costs us a lot of money. Remember those money bags from last year’s impeachment? I say just wait for 2010 elections.
As for ChaCha… as long as GMA sits, I say NO TO CHACHA! Most especially when they’re thinking of CON ASS at this time when congress is filled with CONs and ASSes. Let’s also be careful about economic changes. Ngayon pa lang our country is already being sold piece by piece to foreign entities what more when foreign ownership becomes more open due to the economic amendments the CONs & ASSes are thinking of incorporating in our constitution…
