Honesty costs her the crown

Miss California Carrie Prejean

It is ironic that while people would want to be respected and accepted, they don’t want to accept and respect her opinion, and so, her honesty costs her the crown.

Miss California Carrie Prejean was asked on her stand on the same-sex marriage issue, and she answered with utmost honesty, based on how she was raised by her mother, what’s wrong with that?

She didn’t disrespect anyone and said that it was a total no-no. She just stated what she believe was right. A honesty that didn’t go well with her ‘judge’ Perez Hilton.

Here’s a transcript of that question and Prejean’s answer

Perez Hilton: “Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?”

Prejean: “Well I think its great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.

It so happen too that many of the audiences were gay and she was booed, and as my friend Snow said, she was Miss Controversy 2009.

Perez might indeed have a very nice answer as he have said in his vlog entry — which he made just right after the pageant. But he is not Prejean and she doesn’t think like him.

Anyway, the pageant maybe over, but it seems that the controversy brought about by this question-and-answer portion is still far from over…
