“No more suspension of classes!”

The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued an order to all schools to stop suspending classes. DepEd secrerary Jesli Lapus has issued the “no more suspension of classes!” directive because he feels the panic over the Influenza A(H1N1) is already affecting the economy.

Lapus said, “It’s useless (suspending classes for entire schools). This is just like sore eyes or cough.”

The education secretary further said that they are coming out with new school guidelines either today or tomorrow, adding that suspension of classes would not really stop the spread of the virus.

“If there’s already a community outbreak, you can no longer contain it. You have to deal with the disease,” Lapus said.

As I was discussing with the fellow parent in school this morning, we really just have to take extra care with our kids, while we still try to live a normal life.

With classes being suspended left and right, I have a feeling that the virus is really taking over our lives.

In the meantime, let’s wait for the new guidelines of DepEd about the virus and class suspension.
