Teodoro chooses Manzano

Politics meets showbiz.

Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard bearer, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr.’s running is Edu Manzano.

Manzano was choosen as vice president bet of the party upon the recommendation of Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno.

It was Puno, Lakas-Kampi-CMD vice chairman, who officially announced the Teodoro-Manzano tandem in a press conference at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati last Friday.

Manzano accepted the offer to become Teodoro’s running mate because he believes in Teodoro’s capability to lead the country as the next president. “I would like to hitch my wagon with that of the good secretary and be part of his team that would push the Filipinos’ future,” he said.

He thanked Teodoro and Puno for their trust and confidence in him.

For his part, Teodoro believes that Manzano can help him push the party’s platform of governance to bring the country back on its feet. He said, he needs a partner who will convince the people that we need to rise again.

Teodoro added that Manzano is very close to the people and he believes in his principles of good governance. “He is honorable, forward-looking with vision,” he said, “He earns his keep the honorable way.”

Manzano and Teodoro were schoolmates in De La Salle University.

This interesting development would once again put Manzano going against Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay who is also running as vice president. The two both ran as mayor in previous elections, where Binay won.
