The recent New Year’s celebration saw a lot of dangerous firecrackers, which should not actually be called as firecrackers anymore, but are more appropriately referred to as explosives. A friend of mine was almost a casualty as a large stone, which was blown away by a “firecracker”, fell on their roofing and bounced only a few inches away from her.
She happened to be outside too because her family was also celebrating the new year outside, although they were using less dangerous firecrackers. The large, “thunderous” firecrackers were from their neighbor who were celebrating the revelry with much gusto. The louder the explosion, the happier they were.
As much as I would like to understand, and appreciate, why such festivity should be celebrated in a noisy fashion, I hope that some safety precautions should be taken. Innocent people could get hurt… even those who are not using firecrackers in their celebration.
