Nursing board topnotcher came from a family of nurses

His name is Rayan Abogado Oliva, 21 years old and from Sta. Cruz, Naga City. He is the only boy in a family with four children, all of whom are nurses. Yes, Oliva came from a family of nurses.

Oliva topped the nursing board exam with a grade of 86.80% on the recent nursing board exam, whose results were released last Friday. He said he didn’t expect to top the national exam, although he has been a consistent honor student.

“It’s still overwhelming since this was a national exam. I was really shocked. My mind went blank. I had mixed emotions. I was happy, overwhelmed,” Oliva said.

Dr. Emelita Oliva, a dentist and the topnotcher’s mother, said she would have preferred for him to become a priest, but said maybe it’s really his destiny to become a doctor. Oliva plans to study medicine and fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a doctor. He said he will take the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) this December.

The examinees for the nursing board were more than 90,000, but only 37,000 were able to passed the licensure examonation.

Unique trade fair experience

While trade fair and exhibits happen all year round, it during the second half of the year especially during the holidays that they are more frequent. I have been through a lot of trade fairs and I must say that most have a common, uniformed set up, there are others I’ve been through that are quite out of the ordinary.

A recent trade fair I’ve been to last week greeted me with trade show flooring that was very colorful. It feels like I was walking on a giant board game with directions to the different exhibitors even, and did I say they also have colorful trade show carpet. It was quite a unique experience really.

They also have logo mats in every exhibitor’s booth that help you identify the company and product they are selling. For those who can afford the extra pay, and there are quite a number of them in the exhibit, they even have logo canopy proudly displayed on top of their booth. Adds for extra recognition really because you can see them even if you are still at the other end of the alley.

How I wish there would be more trade fairs of this type, wherein there won’t be just the booths, products, and all. But with some added pizzas for extra attraction and a unique experience.

I have heard about it from SEO Guru and they seem to make it sound so easy like it is the most natural thing to do. SEO by the way stands for Search Engine Optimisation wherein your website, blog, or web page would be getting a lot of hits because it was optimized for search engine’s search results.

These gurus talk about providing your blogs or website with text-rich keywords that are “allegedly” most searched about by many Internet surfers. These keywords can range from anything from highly technical terms, to the most absurd or controversial, and sometimes even incomprehensible to the ‘mortals’ who aren’t really into this technical stuff.

And then, there’s the trending or “riding on the bandwagon” kind of stuff. You know, post like Paquiao everytime he has an upcoming match, or Charice Pempengco or Justin Beiber or anybody who’s hot on the internet these days. Many are cashing in these trends, some admits to make a “killing” out of it. It’s their words, by the way.

But what I really cannot tolerate is the fact that some resort to spamming just to get their site out in the open. Believe me, I’ve seen a lot of “gurus” who are doing this. And yes, perhaps they get the results that they wanted as far online earning is concern, but definitely not my respect.

My take on all this is that by producing quality content, sincere and not just “bandwagon” hitchhiking things. Sure, it may not get me to be on the top, but at least I can always say I play fair.

More rains to worsen Pakistan floods

More rains threatened the already worst flood in Pakistan, as the weather forecast provided little hope of drying out in the coming days. The flooding in Pakistan, which began in the northwest threatened plasces as far south as the port city of Karachi. Districts in the southern province of Sindh were on high alert Saturday.

A warning has been issued by the Pakistan’s Federal Flood Commission that the Indus River was flooding and rising in parts of Sindh, including Sukkur, which is the third largest province in the country.

The flooding have already affected as many as 12 million people. Reports said that about 1,600 people have died due to the said calamity.

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department said more heavy rains were in store in the next few days, threatening to deepen the worst natural disaster Pakistan has experienced in recent history. And the monsoon season is only halfway over.

We take chances everyday, and even in the choices that we make, we take chances too. It is like we gamble every time we make a choice. And life is not really different from the chances being taken in casino games by players who frequent the place. Some though take their chances online, instead of going to the actual casino. Maybe they are more comfortable playing in their homes than being in the crowd.

I have not been in a real casino nor have I seen those online casino sites. But based on what friends, who play, both online and offline, that it is quite addicting. You should never really try to start if you do not have enough self-discipline to tell yourself to stop when you need. Needless to say, these friends are able to control themselves, so much so that they really did not develop any gambling habit.

What they usually play online is the online roulette, and no matter how they describe it to me, I could not get the grasp of it. They also mentioned slot games which I believe is quite comprehensible and easy to play, but not necessarily easy to win in.

I know, I am not one who can easily control myself. So I am not about to start now with these “online chances” lest I get addicted easily.
